The Art of Stillness and Pattern

Hi, I'm Eleonor Geli.

Raised in Sweden and shaped by two decades in the United States, I now live and work in Stockholm, creating handcrafted textile artworks and objects inspired by sacred geometry, meditation, vibrant color, and the histories carried within reclaimed cloth.

Meditation and creative practice have long been intertwined in my life. Each piece begins as a collection of small fragments. Through the quiet rhythm of cutting, stitching, and arranging, they gradually find harmony with one another, a process that mirrors meditation itself. It is in this slow and intentional way of making that I find both stillness and meaning.

My fascination with geometry began long before I made my first quilt. Triangles, hexagons, and stars have long captivated me with the way they repeat, connect, and unfold into larger patterns. Found throughout nature, art, and spiritual traditions, they continue to shape the visual language of my work and remind me that seemingly separate pieces can become something greater together.

Working primarily with vintage and reclaimed textiles collected over many years, I transform forgotten cloth into contemporary works that celebrate craftsmanship, sustainability, and renewal. Antique fabrics, thrifted garments, deadstock textiles, treasured finds, and gifted materials all find their way into my studio, each carrying a history that becomes part of a new story.

Vibrant color, bold pattern, and rich texture are central to my practice. Together with geometry, they create a visual language that balances structure with spontaneity, precision with play, inviting both contemplation and delight.

Taught to sew by the women in my family, I grew up immersed in a culture of making, where creativity was nurtured through hands-on exploration of many different crafts and artistic disciplines. Later studies in fashion design, together with years of quilting, further shaped my approach, blending traditional craftsmanship with a contemporary artistic perspective.

My current collection centers on meditation cushions that explore geometry, color, and material. Some are built through intricate quilting, while others allow a single extraordinary textile to speak for itself. Though functional by nature, I approach every piece as a work of art, crafted slowly, thoughtfully, and by hand. Whether one of a kind or part of a small edition shaped by the materials available at the time, each work is created with intention. Every stitch, fabric choice, and design decision forms part of an ongoing conversation between material, maker, and meaning.

At the heart of my practice is a simple belief: forgotten fragments still have stories to tell. Through cloth, color, and geometry, I seek to bring them into harmony, creating works that invite stillness, spark connection, and reveal the beauty that was already there.
